Randonneur Long Distance Biking

Mike Aeling will  be stepping down as RBA and his successor who lives up in the cities is going to be using the Twin cities bicycling club as his sponsoring bike club. On behalf of all of us, we want to thank Mike and Martin Fahje for hosting the randonneur series for so many years. The long range plan for the Mn. Randonneuring group is to become independent with their own website and insurance thru RUSA. This will take a couple more years. All future events will be run through RUSA

Windy 200K

There were 25 riders to start, see attached pic of everyone. The ride today was a tough one with 25-35 mph SW winds greeting the riders on the return leg.  Other than the wind, the weather was very nice. :-) Looks like everyone made it in ok, but taking a little longer than usual. I think everyone made a substantial gain in fitness. Now you can return to the club rides and kick some butt (that's what I heard anyways). We had one rider, Dan Nelson that did the ride on a mountain bike in preparation for a Mountain bike event in Colorado.

On this day.........Byron never looked soooo good......................

RASC 200 km Brevet Riders - May 10th 2008

RASC MEMBER COMPLETES THREE 1200K'S IN 2008

CONGRATULATIONS to Mark Olsen for completing three 1200k's in 2008. Most riders would consider qualifying, for and riding one per year to be an extremely full and active year. Mark completed the CASSCADE 1200 out of Seatle, the ROCKY MOUNTAIN 1200 out of British Columbia, and THE LAST CHANCE 1200 out of Colorado. He is one of the few riders to receive a special award from BC RANDONNEURS for completing at least one 1200k in both Canada and the USA in the same year. Mark has set a new standard for us all in Randonneuring. Also to note, his brother Bill Olsen completed four 1200k's in 2008 and rode with Mark for three of them.

We also had three other RASC members who ride our brevets ride 1200k's this year. Rob Welsh , Michael Fox, and Jeff Hofstede  Rob did the ROCKY MOUNTAIN 1200 out of British Columbia. Michael and Jeff rode the CASSCADE 1200.

CONGRATULATIONS to all!
